Sitaraman Shankar resigns as Editor and CEO of Deccan Herald

As per reports Sitaraman Shankar, the Editor and CEO of Deccan Herald, has resigned from his position. 

Shankar, who joined Deccan Herald in 2018, was the first editor from outside the promoter family in 35 years. He was appointed CEO in 2019, leading the company through the COVID-19 pandemic and significant newsprint cost increases.

Shankar’s career spans over 30 years, including roles at Reuters, Hindustan Times, Economic Times, and News18. During his tenure at Deccan Herald, he introduced significant changes, such as a redesign and new initiatives like DH on Saturday, DH on Sunday, and the DH app. He also diversified the company’s revenue streams by expanding into events, branded content, and education, launching successful events like the Changemaker Awards and Prajavani Cine Awards.
