Jyoti Malhotra is editor-in-chief of The Tribune, the first woman in the chair

Seasoned journalist Jyoti Malhotra has been appointed the new editor-in-chief of The Tribune on Tuesday. She replaced Rajesh Ramachandran, who held the fort for about six years, first as the editor and then as editor-in-chief.

Malhotra confirmed the news with e4m.

This marks a historic moment, as Ms Malhotra becomes the first woman to become the editor of The Tribune in its 145-year-old history, industry observers said.

Her leadership brings a fresh perspective to the publication, and her tenure could potentially herald new directions and priorities for The Tribune, according to media personnel.

It's a noteworthy milestone for gender representation in journalism, highlighting the ongoing progress towards greater diversity and inclusivity in media leadership roles, a senior journalist remarked.

She has experience working in both print and television, for newspapers in India and abroad. She has anchored many news and current affairs TV shows and has been writing news columns for newspapers/magazines worldwide.
